Recount text is a piece of text that retells past event(s) in the
past.

To amuse, entertain and to deal with actual or vicarious experience in
different ways.
· Generic structure
Orientation
Orientation
gives the background information of the story. It gives detail of the
participant and the setting (time and place).
Sequence of Event(s)
Event(s)
is the main activities that occurred in the story. In recount text, event(s) is
written in chronological sequence.
Re-orientation
Re-orientation
is closing statement that may include elaboration. Some recount texts also have
concluding paragraph. However this part is optional
· Language Features

Proper noun to identify those
involved in the story
Ex: I, He, She

Descriptive word to give details about who, what, when, where and how.

The use of the pass tense to retell the events.
Ex: “I slept too late”, “I
went home last night.”

Words that show order of events.
